Help buyers and AI search understand your business.
Start with accurate public facts and useful pages. Then test the questions a buyer might ask and inspect the sources in the answer.
1. Confirm what your website says you do.
List your main services, the property or equipment types you handle, your primary service area and how a customer contacts you. An HVAC page that explains a confirmed repair or replacement service gives a buyer more information than “comfort solutions.”
Use the free website check to inspect one page’s technical signals. It cannot confirm a recommendation or search indexing. OpenAI’s crawler documentation describes OAI-SearchBot’s search role separately from GPTBot’s training role; confirm the intended access before changing rules.
2. Resolve conflicting business information.
Compare your website with profiles and directories you are authorized to manage. Investigate differences in name, phone number, hours, services and service area. Confirm the current facts before requesting a change.
Separate a physical office from a served market. Do not invent reviews, qualifications, availability, service areas or affiliations. The independent HVAC demonstration shows how an office and service-area finding becomes a proposed draft that still needs business approval.
3. Make service pages useful to a buyer.
Explain the job, how your team evaluates it, relevant limitations and the next step. Where permission exists, include specific project evidence. Keep city and service pages accurate to the work the company provides.
Google’s guidance for AI features says established search practices remain relevant. No additional AI text file or special schema is required. Optional structured data should match the visible page. For Google Search, also check the effective Search generative AI inclusion setting with the authorized owner.
4. Record the conditions of each answer.
Choose questions about jobs you want and can perform. Save the exact question, date, surface, collection method, controllable location settings and available response. Distinguish a business mention from a recommendation and retain cited sources.
Repeat representative questions and record unavailable attempts separately. One answer is an observation under those conditions, not a permanent ranking. API results should be labeled as API results. Read the measurement method.
5. Complete supported priorities first.
An inaccurate service area, inaccessible key page or unclear job description may deserve attention before another article. Give each supported priority an owner, dependency, effort estimate and completion condition.
The $297 audit provides five priorities and a useful draft or patch where appropriate. Installation is a separate scope. You can use the material with your current team or request a Foundation proposal.
